Mississippi SB2696 amends Section 9-11-9 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to increase the jurisdiction limit of justice courts from $3,500 to $5,000 for actions involving debts, damages, or personal property. Justice court judges must have no financial interest in the outcome of any case once a suit is filed. The changes will take effect from July 1, 2026.
