Mississippi SB2660 classifies catfish in the Mississippi River as game fish. It mandates the Mississippi Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to regulate the taking of these catfish, including setting reasonable daily harvest and length limits. The bill prohibits harvesting more than one catfish over 34 inches in length every six months. It also requires commercial fishing licenses for certain activities involving catfish and other fish. The act is set to take effect from July 1, 2026.
