Mississippi SB2605 amends Section 45-33-25 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to prohibit registered sex offenders from living in campus student housing or in a sorority or fraternity house at a public university or community college in Mississippi. The bill also provides civil enforcement provisions, allowing a person to assert a violation as a claim or defense in a judicial or administrative proceeding and obtain compensatory damages, punitive damages, injunctive relief, declaratory relief, or any other appropriate relief. The bill takes effect from and after July 1, 2027.
