Mississippi SB2553 allows certified nurse midwives to practice without a written collaborative agreement with a physician.

Mississippi SB2553 amends the Mississippi Code to allow certified nurse midwives to practice as advanced practice registered nurses without requiring a written collaborative/consultative relationship agreement with a physician. This bill removes the necessity for certified nurse midwives to have an agreement with a physician regarding the protocol or practice guidelines. Certified nurse midwives will still need to practice according to standards and guidelines of the National Certification Organization and in accordance with a board-approved protocol or practice guidelines.
