Mississippi SB2551 mandates hospitals to offer influenza vaccinations to inpatients aged 50 and older before discharge.

Mississippi SB2551 amends Section 41-9-39 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to require hospitals to offer influenza vaccinations to inpatients aged 50 and older, who are at increased risk of influenza complications, from October through March. This requirement applies unless the vaccination is contraindicated or the vaccine is unavailable. Hospitals and their employees are immune from civil liability for personal injury resulting from compliance with this act, unless there is willful or wanton misconduct or gross negligence.
