Charter schools in Mississippi will have their charter revoked if they remain "D" or "F" rated for over two years.
Mississippi SB2489 amends the state code to revoke or not renew the charter of a charter school if it is designated a "D" or "F" rated school under the school accreditation rating system for longer than two consecutive years. The authorizer must develop processes for revocation and nonrenewal, providing the governing board with timely notification, a reasonable time to prepare a response, and an opportunity to submit documents and testimony.
