J.P. Wilemon, Jr., Financial Literacy Act requires financial literacy curriculum in grades 6-8 and a financial literacy course for high school.

The J.P. Wilemon, Jr., Financial Literacy Act mandates the State Board of Education to integrate financial literacy components into the existing curriculum for grades 6-8 starting in the 2027-2028 school year. This applies to all accredited schools, including public charter schools. Additionally, beginning with the graduating class of 2032, students must complete a half Carnegie Unit course in personal finance or a full Carnegie Unit course where at least half of the course standards concern financial literacy to earn a high school diploma.
