SB2428

White-tailed deer enclosures; enable testing for CWD by submission of viable samples or alternative methods for such testing.

Failed·3/3/26

Mississippi SB2428 would require testing for chronic wasting disease in white-tailed deer harvested within enclosures and establish penalties for.

Mississippi SB2428 amends the Mississippi Code to mandate chronic wasting disease testing for white-tailed deer harvested within enclosures. The Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks must promulgate rules requiring the annual submission of viable samples from harvested deer. Enclosure owners/operators must also submit samples from deer that die within the enclosure from causes other than hunting. A third violation of these rules is a felony with fines ranging from $2,000 to $5,000.
