SB2416

Law enforcement officers; entitled to certain follow-up drug testing before loss of certification.

Complete·3/13/26

Law enforcement officers in Mississippi must be given a chance for follow-up drug testing if they test positive for illegal drugs.

Mississippi SB2416 establishes a right for law enforcement officers to undergo additional drug testing if they test positive for illegal drugs. If an officer tests positive on a urinalysis, they must be allowed to take a hair follicle test within five days. If the hair follicle test is negative, the officer is reimbursed for the test cost. If the officer does not contest the positive urinalysis result within two days, the employer may initiate disciplinary action.
