Mississippi SB2380 requires insurers to reinstate auto insurance policies if they fail to provide proper notice of cancellation.

Mississippi SB2380 mandates that insurers reinstate auto insurance policies if they fail to provide proper notice of cancellation. Specifically, if an insurer cancels a policy for nonpayment of premiums but sends the notice to a different address than the one shown in the policy, the insured has the opportunity to pay the past-due premiums. Upon payment, the policy is reinstated with the original terms binding. The bill also sets a minimum notice period for cancellation notices and specifies that proof of mailing is sufficient proof of notice. This act takes effect from July 1, 2026.
