Mississippi SB2036 allows nonviolent inmates to be released on parole on their eligibility date if certain conditions are met.

Mississippi SB2036 amends the Mississippi Code to clarify that nonviolent inmates eligible for parole may be released on their parole eligibility date, at the discretion of the State Parole Board. This applies if the inmate has met the requirements of the parole case plan, has no serious or major violation reports in the past six months, has agreed to the conditions of supervision, and has an approved discharge plan. The board may deny parole if the inmate has not substantively complied with the case plan.
