Clarifies that revocation of an ex-spouse as a beneficiary applies to all designations made on or after July 1, 2026.
Mississippi HB974 amends Section 91-29-23 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to clarify that the revocation of an ex-spouse as a beneficiary applies to all designations made by or on behalf of a decedent on or after July 1, 2026. If a decree of divorce or annulment is rendered after an insured has designated the spouse as a beneficiary under a life insurance policy, the ex-spouse remains a beneficiary only if the decree designates them as such or the insured redesignates them post-decree.
