MS Length-of-Service Award Program; extend repealer and create Fire Grant Fund and Fire Equipment Grant Fund.

Complete·4/8/26

Extends the repealer date of the Mississippi Length-of-Service Award Program and creates two new funds for fire grants.

This bill extends the repealer date of the Mississippi Length-of-Service Award Program (LOSAP) from July 1, 2029, to a later date. The LOSAP provides paid length-of-service awards to eligible volunteer firefighters to aid in recruitment and retention. The bill also establishes the Fire Grant Fund and the Fire Equipment Grant Fund to support volunteer fire departments. The Mississippi Department of Insurance will manage these funds, which will be used to provide grants for fire-related activities and equipment.
