Mississippi HB858 prohibits OMR voting equipment from being capable of establishing wireless connections during an election.

Mississippi HB858 amends the Mississippi Code to prohibit OMR voting equipment from being capable of establishing wireless connections during an election. The bill also establishes the Mississippi Voting Modernization Grant Program within the Mississippi Secretary of State to reimburse counties for the purchase of modern voting systems. The grant program will receive funds from the Capital Expense Fund or other available sources. Counties can apply for grants to purchase voting system hardware and incur other eligible expenses related to conducting elections.
