Mississippi HB84 requires public school districts with a "C" accountability rating to offer online remedial education courses for all students. These courses, which must be graded separately, cover vocabulary, mathematics, geography, science, and other subjects deemed necessary by the State Board of Education. The State Department of Education will contract with a qualified virtual instruction entity to provide and manage these courses, track student progress, and report academic weaknesses to counselors and parents. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.
