Mississippi HB77 mandates that each state institution of higher learning and public community or junior college provide an annual mental health assessment to all members of each school sponsored athletic organization. The assessment evaluates the student-athlete's cognitive functioning, disposition, mood, behavior, and ability to express oneself. Assessments may be performed by a primary care doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, behavioral therapist, or mental health counselor.
