Abolishes employment-at-will doctrine, requiring terminations to be made in good faith.
The "Good Faith in Employment Act" abolishes the employment-at-will doctrine in Mississippi, requiring employers to terminate employees only for good-faith business reasons. Employers must not discharge employees based on personal dislike, retaliation, or other arbitrary reasons. Employees wrongfully terminated can seek lost wages, compensatory damages, and punitive damages through jury trial. The act prohibits employers from limiting these protections through arbitration agreements or other means. The act took effect July 1, 2026.
