Mississippi HB742 revises the annual highway privilege tax for farm and agricultural operations, allowing in-person payments to county tax collectors.

Mississippi HB742 amends the annual highway privilege tax for farm and agricultural operations by introducing an alternative payment method. Taxpayers with a valid harvest permit can now pay their taxes in person through their county tax collector instead of using online or department-administered processes. The county tax collector is required to forward the collected funds and accompanying tax documentation to the Mississippi Department of Revenue within thirty days of receipt. The collector may retain up to one percent of the tax collected per vehicle for administrative costs.
