Allows vehicle applicants to indicate communication impediments and share this with law enforcement.
Mississippi HB545 requires vehicle registration applications to include a space for applicants to voluntarily indicate health conditions or disabilities that may impede communication with law enforcement. The Department of Revenue can request verification of these conditions. The Department of Public Safety must receive this information and include it in the Mississippi Criminal Information Center to alert officers, but cannot disclose it to the public. The bill also prohibits the Department of Public Safety from issuing license plates with visible markings indicating such conditions.
