Increases homestead exemption for certain unremarried surviving spouses of veterans in Mississippi.

Mississippi HB419 amends the homestead exemption to provide tax relief for unremarried surviving spouses of veterans. Effective January 1, 2027, unremarried surviving spouses of American veterans who were honorably discharged and have reached 85 years of age will be exempt from all ad valorem taxes on their homestead property. The bill also extends tax exemptions to unremarried surviving spouses of members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were killed or died on active duty, starting January 1, 2023.
