Drennan was disqualified as an elector in 2007 for the crime of Grand Larceny, for which he served five years of probation. He was later sentenced in 2018 for Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, serving concurrent sentences totaling fifteen years. He was released on parole in 2022. The bill states that Drennan has since behaved as a law-abiding citizen.
