Mississippi HB404 amends Section 99-36-7 of the Mississippi Code to allow the Sixteenth Circuit Court District to appoint an additional victim assistance coordinator. This coordinator will work with law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, and the state judiciary to ensure victims, guardians, and relatives are afforded their rights. The salary of the coordinator will be paid jointly by the counties in the district and will not exceed the salary authorized for criminal investigators. The act takes effect from July 1, 2026.
