Mississippi HB383 mandates that uninsured motorist coverage limits equal liability coverage unless the insured selects lower limits.

Mississippi HB383 amends the Mississippi Code to require that uninsured motorist coverage limits be equal to bodily injury and property damage liability coverage limits unless the insured specifically selects lower limits in writing. This change applies to policies issued after July 1, 2026. Insurers must inform insureds of the benefits of uninsured motorist coverage during policy sales. If the insured rejects this coverage, it need not be provided in renewal, replacement, or transferred policies unless requested in writing.
