Mississippi HB34 removes blank spaces for write-in candidates on ballots and mandates supplementary ballots if a candidate is removed after ballots.

Mississippi HB34 amends the state's election laws to remove blank spaces on ballots for write-in candidates. If a candidate dies, resigns, withdraws, or is removed after ballots are printed but before the election, a supplementary ballot must be printed and used. This supplementary ballot must only contain the race in which a candidate has been substituted. Voters who cast absentee ballots before the supplementary ballot is printed must be notified and given the option to return to vote the supplementary ballot or have it mailed to them.
