Mississippi HB24 prohibits members of municipal executive committees from campaigning for candidates on the municipal primary election ballot.

Mississippi HB24 amends the Mississippi Code to prohibit members of municipal executive committees from campaigning for, fundraising for, contributing to, endorsing, or otherwise supporting candidates listed on the municipal primary election ballot. A violation of this provision is a misdemeanor, punishable by removal from the primary election position. The bill also amends the Mississippi Code to prohibit members of temporary municipal executive committees from engaging in similar activities. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2026.
