Mississippi HB236 establishes the African-American Resident Physician Scholarship Program, administered by the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Participants must serve in a health professional shortage area, medically underserved area, or approved rural area for at least five years. Failure to fulfill this obligation results in the requirement to repay all financial assistance received through the program, including penalties. The act takes effect from July 1, 2026.
