Noxubee County, Mississippi, is authorized to levy a 2% tax on the gross proceeds of sales from short term rentals to generate funds for promoting tourism and parks and recreation. The tax can only be imposed if approved by an election where at least 60% of qualified voters support it. The tax revenue must be kept in a separate fund and used exclusively for the specified purposes. The tax will be in effect until July 1, 2030.
