Mississippi HB1720 amends state law to prohibit licensed professionals from using artificial intelligence in the practice of professional mental or behavioral health care. This includes counseling, psychotherapy, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, art therapy, and music therapy. Exceptions allow for the use of AI in administrative and supplementary support services, such as managing appointments and processing billing claims, provided that the patient or their representative gives informed, written consent.
