Mississippi HB1628 would amend the Mississippi Code to exempt certain enclosures from chronic wasting disease testing and registration fees for white-tailed deer. Specifically, it would prohibit the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks from requiring CWD testing for deer within enclosures, including those that died from natural causes within breeding pens. It would also repeal the requirement for white-tailed deer harvested within any enclosure to be tested for CWD. The bill would take effect on July 1, 2026.
