Expands authorized purposes for major medical leave for state employees.

Mississippi HB1555 expands the authorized purposes for the use of major medical leave by state employees. It allows employees to use major medical leave for the death of an immediate family member, domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, and to care for a family member with a catastrophic injury or illness. The bill also allows employees to donate personal leave to colleagues facing catastrophic injuries or illnesses. The provisions of this act are set to take effect from July 1, 2026.
