Mississippi HB1469 amends Section 59-21-127 of the Mississippi Code to restrict enforcement officers from stopping or boarding vessels without probable cause. This change applies to officers from the Mississippi Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and the Commission on Marine Resources. The bill also prohibits officers from stopping or boarding vessels solely for safety or marine sanitation equipment inspections. A violation of safety or marine sanitation requirements is considered a secondary offense. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
