Mississippi HB1462 allows students to take up to two excused Mental Health Days per school year.

Mississippi HB1462, known as the "Mississippi Mental Health Days Act," establishes Mental Health Days as an excused absence category for students. Students may use up to two consecutive days for mental health reasons, with additional absences allowed for chronic conditions. The Mississippi Department of Education will develop guidelines and a model policy for schools to support students using Mental Health Days. Schools must adopt policies consistent with these guidelines by the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
