Authorizes advanced practice registered nurses to sign death certificates and POLST orders.

Mississippi HB1461 authorizes advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) to complete, sign, and file death certificates for patients under their care. The bill also allows APRNs to sign and execute Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) for patients under their care. These POLST orders must follow national best practice guidelines, including shared decision-making between the provider and the patient. The bill amends existing sections of the Mississippi Code to include these provisions, effective July 1, 2026.
