Mississippi HB144 amends the state's Medicaid provisions to prohibit health benefit plans, pharmacy benefit managers, and private review agents from subjecting drugs prescribed for the treatment or prevention of HIV or AIDS to prior authorization requirements, step therapy, or any other protocol that could restrict or delay the dispensing of the drug. The bill also mandates that these entities cover at least one therapeutically equivalent drug for HIV or AIDS without prior authorization or step therapy if multiple equivalents are approved by the FDA.
