Mississippi HB1421 amends the Mississippi Code to require coroners elected on or after July 1, 2026, to complete at least fifty hours of approved training from the CDC Collaborating Office for Medical Examiners and Coroners. This training must be completed online or in-person and is in addition to the existing requirements for attending the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory and State Medical Examiner Death Investigation Training School. Failure to complete this training disqualifies the coroner from taking the oath of office.
