Mississippi HB1410 creates a Board of Directors for the Department of Human Services to assist and oversee the executive director.

Mississippi HB1410 amends the Mississippi Department of Human Services by establishing a Board of Directors. This board, consisting of seven members, will assist and oversee the executive director in governing the department. Four members are appointed by the Governor, and three by the Lieutenant Governor, each serving four-year terms. The board will organize annually, selecting a chair and vice chair, and will meet quarterly to review department operations and budget. The executive director must consult with the board before making major decisions. The act takes effect on July 1, 2026.
