Mississippi HB1386 revises the use of funds distributed to municipalities for infrastructure assistance.

Mississippi HB1386 amends Section 27-67-35 of the Mississippi Code to revise the authorized use of funds distributed to municipalities for infrastructure assistance. The bill creates a special fund in the State Treasury, separate from the General Fund, to assist municipalities in paying costs associated with the repair, maintenance, and reconstruction of roads, streets, sidewalks, and bridges, and the acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of buildings. It also allows for the use of these funds as a pledge to pay debt service on debt issued by a municipality.
