The Mississippi Whistleblower Reward Act establishes a reward system for whistleblowers who provide original information and substantial evidence of the theft or misuse of government funds or property to the Department of Audit. If the evidence leads to the successful recovery of funds, the whistleblower is entitled to fifteen percent of the proceeds, up to a maximum of $250,000. The act also outlines protections for whistleblowers against workplace reprisal or retaliatory action, including remedies for those subjected to such actions.
