Mississippi HB1021 amends Section 83-9-253 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to grant the Commissioner of Insurance the authority to apply for a state innovation waiver under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This waiver allows the state to implement certain health care reforms. The Commissioner can establish programs, rules, policies, and guidelines to create, implement, or operate an exchange. The bill also allows the Commissioner to apply for and accept federal funds related to the creation, implementation, or operation of an exchange.
