Employers in large cities must offer commuter benefits to employees.
SF5278 requires covered employers in cities of the first class with 50 or more employees within one mile of a transit route to provide pretax commuter benefits. These benefits can include transit passes, walking, biking, and carpooling or vanpooling reimbursements. Employers can comply by participating in a program offered by the Metropolitan Council or other transit authority. The benefits must be offered to all employees starting from their first full pay period after 120 days of employment.
