Minnesota SF5119 prohibits the use of sonar when fishing for muskellunge or northern pike in waters identified by the commissioner as waters where muskellunge populations are naturally reproducing and not primarily maintained through stocking. This includes live imaging sonar, forward-facing sonar, omnidirectional sonar, or drones. The bill also prohibits the possession of such equipment on the shores or islands of these waters, unless the equipment is completely powered off, cables are disconnected, and connections are secured to prevent immediate reconnection.
