Waives motor vehicle registration tax for one year for new and used vehicles.

The bill authorizes a one-year motor vehicle registration tax holiday for new and used vehicles purchased and registered in Minnesota between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2027. The tax imposed under Minnesota Statutes, section 168.013, is waived for these vehicles. Existing license plate tabs remain valid for 12 months after the registration is automatically extended. The tax holiday does not apply to electric vehicle surcharges or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle surcharges.
