This bill amends Minnesota Statutes to modify the procedures for coroners and medical examiners when disposing of personal property of decedents. If a representative qualifies within six years, the treasurer pays the proceeds to them. If no claim is made within six months, the coroner or medical examiner may dispose of the property. For unknown decedents, if the identity is established within six years, the proceeds are paid to the representative. The coroner or medical examiner may surrender property to the spouse or blood relatives, sell it at public auction, or dispose of it as directed.
