Minnesota SF4188 allows the Cloquet Area Fire District to impose a local sales tax of up to one-half of one percent, subject to voter approval in the cities of Cloquet and Scanlon. The tax revenue will be used to finance up to $31,000,000 for the construction of Ambulance and Fire Station I, including debt service on bonds issued for the project. The tax is not subject to certain levy limitations and expires 20 years after imposition or when the project is fully funded, whichever comes first. Any remaining funds after project completion must be placed in the district's general fund.
