The bill sets standards for competitive grants issued by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. It requires grantees to be Minnesota-based nonprofits in good standing with the Office of the Attorney General and with a current federal tax form 990. The commissioner must develop a scoring system to evaluate grant applications based on the applicant's history of serving veterans. Grant money can only be used to provide services to Minnesota veterans, their immediate family members, or those of deceased veterans.
