This bill amends Minnesota Statutes to establish a lifetime firearms ban for individuals convicted of certain misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor domestic assault offenses. Specifically, if a person is convicted of domestic assault and used a firearm in the commission of the assault, the court may prohibit the person from possessing any type of firearm for the remainder of their life. The court must inform the defendant of this prohibition at the time of conviction.
