Minnesota SF3528 sets a state goal to restore or protect 1 million acres of wetlands by 2050.
Minnesota SF3528 establishes a state goal to restore or permanently protect at least 1 million acres of lost or significantly degraded wetlands by 2050. State agencies with grant programs or discretion over appropriated funds must consider opportunities to contribute to this goal. Preference for restoration or protection efforts should go to counties that have lost more than 50 percent of their prestatehood wetlands. The Board of Water and Soil Resources must report annually starting in 2027 on progress toward the goal, identifying areas of success, future potential, and obstacles.
