Minnesota SF2852 amends the definition of optometry practice to include prescribing legend drugs for diagnosis, cure, mitigation, prevention, treatment, or management of diseases. It also allows optometrists to administer or prescribe Schedule II and III oral legend drugs and oral steroids, oral antivirals for more than ten days, and oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors for more than seven days. The bill restricts the administration of legend drugs intravenously, intramuscularly, or by injection, except for anaphylaxis treatment, and prohibits invasive surgery, including laser surgery.
