Minnesota SF248 makes it illegal to knowingly euthanize or authorize the euthanasia of any pet or companion animal in a private or public animal shelter, humane society, society for the prevention of cruelty to animals, animal control facility, or pound using carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, or other nonanesthetic gas. Violators face criminal penalties, with the law taking effect August 1, 2025.
