Specifically, zoos licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture, housing animals owned by institutions accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, and participating in the American Zoo and Aquarium Association Species Survival Plan are exempt. This exemption applies to zoos meeting all three criteria. The change takes effect the day following final enactment.
